Gaming Chairs vs Office Chairs

Whether you are a passionate gamer or a devoted employee, you are spending many hours sitting on a chair every day. Playing Fortnite or working on a project for hours on end will surely make you tired. But with the help of the right chair, playing and working will be more bearable.

Gaming chairs or office chairs? This question is so hard to answer that it often leaves people in a big dilemma. So if you are one of those people who are not sure which one to get, keep on reading.

In this article, we reveal the differences between a gaming chair and an office chair.

Design

This is on top of the list because it’s the most visible difference between a gaming chair and office chair.

Gaming chairs are often designed to look cool. To do this, manufacturers usually use bold, dark colors (e.g red and black). Additionally, some gaming chairs catch the attention of fans due to their out-of-this-world designs.

On the other hand, office chairs are designed to look monochromatic. Most office chairs in the market usually come in just one color. In the event that an office chair has two colors, those colors are usually complimentary (e.g black and grey).

Comfort

Many people say that office chairs are more comfortable than gaming chairs. That’s not entirely true though.

In general, both gaming chairs and office chairs are comfortable. When low-range & mid-range gaming chairs and office chairs are compared, there’s not much of a difference, as opposed to what many people claim.

However, when high-range office chairs and gaming chairs are compared, office chairs offer more comfort.

So on average, high-range office chairs will typically offer more comfort than gaming chairs with the same price. But, again, the difference of comfort between the two chair styles with low and mid price ranges—which is what most consumers are looking for—is not as big as you think.

Adjustment

Height adjustment, armrest adjustment, tilt adjustment, and backrest adjustment are the most significant features that you should look for when deciding which chair to get.

Both gaming chairs and office chairs offer these adjustments. However, high-end gaming chairs usually offer a reclining feature, which many high-end office chairs don’t. Office chairs may offer tilt adjustment, but they cannot fully recline.

Adjustment options of the two chair styles are tailored to their target markets though. Reclining at work is not ideal for an office employee. However, for gamers, it works.

Cost

In general, gaming chairs are more expensive than office chairs (we’re talking about low-range and mid-range chairs here).

However, it is important for you to know that when it comes to high-end chairs, high-end office chairs usually cost more than gaming chairs.

High-end gaming chairs cost about $800, while their office chair counterparts can cost up to $1,000.

The Verdict

The truth is, there’s no definite winner in this chair battle. It all depends on your needs. Office chairs and gaming chairs are made for specific users, and it’s up to you to decide which one to pick.
